Like bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations must be done to ensure the transactions presented on your monthly statement by your credit company are accurate. Credit card companies do make mistakes; however, most errors are usually errors of omission on the company’s part, such as the charging back of one or more sales because a customer disputes a charge that was not privy to you. This can be easily corrected by adjusting the cash receipt journal to reflect the loss of sale, and the credit card statement should then match up.
